Thames Festival Trust in partnership with the Port of London Authority is proud to announce that this year’s Thames Lens photography competition is now open.

In collaboration with Port of London Authority, we are thrilled to announce Thames Lens 2023 is now open for entries! For 17 years Thames Lens has encouraged non-professional photographers to get out and explore the River Thames through a creative lens. We have four distinct categories, each of which speak to different facets of the river that all offer different potential. Prizes include River Roamer tickets each courtesy of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, spots on walks with London Streets Photography, and much more.

Marine training on the River Thames is to receive a major boost with the launch of a new skills organisation that will support crew training and development on the UK’s busiest waterway.

The Port of London Authority has launched a major masterplanning exercise to realise the growth opportunities along the Thames, and help integrate the river into the economy and lives of communities, as it starts implementing Thames Vision 2050.

Thames Oilport announces that it is to expand the amount of tankage to be used for diesel storage, bringing into use a further 56,000 cbm of tankage from Q1 2017.

Today Thames Oilport celebrates the receipt of the first in a series of diesel shipments to be stored on site. The arrival of these shipments is a major milestone that brings fuel into the terminal for the first time since the closure of the Coryton refinery.

Thames Rowing Club has won the tenth Port of London Authority (PLA) annual Rowing Safety Award, along with a £1,250 cash prize during a ceremony at their club in Putney.

University of London Boat Club is the latest tidal Thames rowing club to win the Port of London Authority (PLA) annual Rowing Safety Award. Now in its 11th year, the award winners received a £1,000 cash prize. PLA chief harbour master, Bob Baker commented: “University of London Boat Club have previously been runners-up and are deserved winners. It’s great to see a highly competitive student club with such a sound safety culture.”
