Start of a busy week for the Thames

Stad Amsterdam arrives in London (click on image to enlarge)The arrival of the sailing ship, Stad Amsterdam, earlier today (Monday, 23 July) marked the start of a busy week on the Thames in the run up to the Olympic opening ceremony this Friday, 27 July.

Vessel arrivals and events on the river this week include:

Tues, 24 July: Cruise ship, Deutschland, arriving West India Dock (4.45 am) 14 sailing ships arriving Tilbury Landing Stage (Sail Greenwich)
Wed, 25 July: Sail Greenwich fleet sailing up to Blackwall Point before returning to moorings at Woolwich
Thursday, 26 July: Sailing ship, Belem, taking Tower Stairs moorings (6.30 pm)
Friday, 27 July: Final leg of the Torch Relay on the river (Hampton Court to Tower Bridge); due at Teddington Lock around 8.30 am

 

In addition the PLA is starting recreational vessel focused ‘gatekeeper’ patrols at Gravesend today and Richmond on Wednesday, 25 July. An extra PLA harbour service launch started operations on the river today, to help marshal the greater number of vessels and events on the river.
