City Alpha - incident 2nd September 2013

At approx. 1655 today (Monday 2 September 2013) the glass windows at the front of the passenger tourist boat ‘City Alpha’ were damaged whilst the vessel was travelling east along the River near HMS Belfast in the Upper Pool.

The ‘City Alpha’ was able to safely come alongside Tower Pier and the 81 passengers on board were able to leave the boat.

We understand that four passengers on board were injured. We believe three had minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at Tower Pier. One 64-year-old female passenger sustained multiple cuts to her legs. She was also treated by paramedics on the pier and has now been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The Port of London Authority has already begun an investigation into the cause of the accident and will also work closely with the other relevant safety agencies to establish the cause and any measures that need to be taken as a result.
