Around the World With the PLA

PLA staff have taken on a lockdown challenge to get around the world – and raise money for seafarers.

The challenge sees employees adding their daily exercise distance to that covered by harbour patrols, pilots of ships, surveyors and marine services.

The COVID-19 lockdown has had a severe impact on the men and women who sail the cargo ships delivering essential supplies of food, fuel and medicine. In many cases, they have had their contracts extended, are barred from coming ashore while in port and are often cut off from their loved ones.

That's why we're raising money for the Mission to Seafarers, which provides help and support to the 1.5 million crewmen and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.

The PLA team has clocked up impressive mileage in their pursuit of fitness and during their essential works in the Port of London. They've surveyed, piloted, cycled and walked in the name of supporting their seafaring colleagues.

The team’s on its way to Hawaii after reaching Sydney!
