The Port of Tilbury's cargo handling activities are divided into five operational areas - SSCT / Containers, Conventional, Grain/Bulks, Finnish Terminal and Enterprise Distribution Centre- all equipped with modern facilities to handle the full range of cargo types.

Access
Dual carriageway A1089 connection to A13 trunk road, M25 London Orbital Motorway and Dartford River Crossing, M11 to the North.
Rail access via Port's own Riverside Terminal or Freightliner's domestic terminal.
Tilbury Town railway station is situated adjacent to the Port offering regular passenger services to Central London.

Entrance By Water:
Entrance lock 304.8 metres long and 33.5 metres wide with a depth of water on outer sill of 7.3 metres below Chart Datum.
The largest vessels usually acceptable are 262.1 metres in length, beam up to 32.3 metres and draught of 11.4 metres. Open 24 hours a day, every day, unless advertised otherwise (Notice to Mariners).
Note: The depth of water shown against each entry is the authorised depth, and users will need to confirm the ruling depth with the operator.

Entrance By Road:
Gate No.1, open 24 hours a day, including weekends and public holidays.
Maximum width without headroom restriction is 5.8 metres.

Freeport Status:
Tilbury's Freeport status encompasses the entire 325 hectares (800 acres) of the Port of Tilbury complex.
