The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant was an unprecedented, complex and ambitious event that was the centre piece of national celebrations this summer. The PLA played a key role in helping plan the pageant, get the river ready for it by placing moorings and was out on the river in force on 3 June 2012 to run the event safely.
The Port of London Authority films archive is host to a number of videos which document the work of the PLA before, during and after the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
Passage planning, vessel checks and laying moorings - just some of the things the PLA did to get ready for the river pageant.
On 3 June 2012, over 100 PLA staff on 30 of our vessels ran and marshalled the biggest ever flotilla on the Thames. This film tells the story of our day.
