2022 Annual Stakeholder Forum

We will be holding our Annual Stakeholder Forum on Tuesday, 17 May 2022 as a hybrid event, both online and in person, at IET London, Savoy Place.

The annual Forum will be hosted by new PLA chair, Jonson Cox CBE. It will feature updates on river use and PLA performance in 2021, drawn from the organisation’s annual report & accounts, which is expected to be released within the next two weeks, including the continued recruitment of pilots and consultation on the updated river development framework, Thames Vision 2050. There will be time for open questions from customers and stakeholders, after the formal presentations.

The Port of London is home to the UK’s largest port and busiest inland waterway for passengers and freight. The Forum will start at 2.30 pm; for those joining in person, refreshments will be available from 2.00 pm.

PLA chief executive, Robin Mortimer, explains:

“We are really looking forward to this year’s Stakeholder Forum as a chance to come back together with people to discuss both developments on the river and in the PLA. For the last two years we have had a very close focus on operational resilience, sustaining essential supply chains through the pandemic, and supporting customers whose operations were badly affected by restrictions.

“As river activity recovered through 2021, we looked closely at the long-term prospects for the port and river, with the creation of Thames Vision 2050. This captures the scale of change in prospect as we transition to Net Zero. It’s an exciting agenda set to put the Thames at the heart of the emerging new economy, with forecasts suggesting continued and sustainable growth in port trade, passenger and other operations.”

During the event we will pick up on some of the major river developments, from the announcement of the Thames Freeport to the start of work preparing more safeguarded wharves for return to operations.
