The Service is becoming increasingly experienced with gathering data for studies into the effects of river works and dredging operations utilsing it's Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) for current flow monitoring and selection of grabs for sampling and subsequent chemical and physical analysis of the river/seabed.

In conjunction with the Environment Agency and HR Wallingford, a 2D model of the river flows has been developed to aid in the decision making process, including River Works Licensing and Flood Risk Management.  For more details click here.

Unfortunately, the Hydrographic Service does not hold comprehensive geological, geophysical, wave, wind, temperature, salinity or water quality data.  For these please contact the relevant National Data Centre (e.g. British Geological Survey, British Oceanographic Data Centre, Met Office and Environment Agency).
