On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June ‘Recycle challenge’, an interactive family festival, is taking over the Museum of London Docklands. The museum is on a mission to find new and imaginative ways to look after our city and our planet and needs your help. This is your chance to become an eco-champion for the day, make a junk masterpiece or help build a new London through our interactive activities.

Crafty kids will get the chance to design an eco-happy London of the future while wannabe musicians can record a song on their handmade recycled instruments as part of an orchestra. Those who would rather sit back and relax can enjoy the story of the first junk playground in London, and listen to the story of the inspirational Lady Allen, whose idea it was initially.

This festival will encourage families to think about recycling, look after the environment and live in a sustainably fun and exciting way. It has been developed in partnership with the ecocouncils from local primary schools, who have worked to design activities that will teach children about the environment issues in ways which are engaging to them.

About The Museum of London Docklands

The Museum of London Docklands is located at West India Quay in east London. Opened in 2003, this grade one listed converted Georgian sugar warehouse specifically tells the story of the port, river and city – focusing on trade, migration and commerce in London.
