Port of London Authority has Essex team covered after training gear donation

A young Essex team are all set for the new football season after the Port of London Authority (PLA), stepped in to sponsor their smart new training tops.

Lads at Leigh Ramblers YFC under 12s, whose home ground is just over a mile from the Thames, are now able to stay that little bit drier in the new waterproof gear, which bears the PLA logo. Leigh Ramblers was founded in 1902, seven years before the PLA, which oversees safe navigation on the UK’s busiest river.

The PLA’s marine manager ashore, Danny Marsh, who lives in Leigh says the boys are over the moon to get a helping hand with their kit. Danny’s 11-year-old son, Owen, plays on the left wing for the under 12s.

Danny said: “The PLA tops look really smart, it’s great for them to turn up kitted out in a uniform look. It gives them a bit of extra pride in their team.”

Leigh Ramblers Youth provides one of the biggest set ups of junior football in the Essex area. The club currently provide football for all age groups from Under 18 down to Under 7 mini soccer.
